What are the steps in a hiring process?

The hiring process starts with identifying a need within your organization. This need can range from filling a vacant position, better managing a team's workload, or expanding the scope of the organization's tasks. In other words, the positions have been created recently or have recently become vacant. Hiring usually starts when you announce a job opportunity and start selecting candidates.

The review is the first stage in which you receive candidates and you must decide whether or not you want them to go through your hiring process. Here, you're reviewing resumes along with some key questions designed to get the most important qualification information. For example, you can ask how many years of experience an applicant has in your field or if they hold a particular certification. Once all of these other steps have been completed, employers will determine the most qualified candidates.

The verification step may be the most neglected stage of the hiring process, but when people look back at hires that didn't work, they usually regret not completing this step. While some steps are obvious, others may be more “behind the scenes” or simply unknown to applicants. Rather, employers are simply completing a series of steps (some for legal or ethical reasons and others for the benefit of the company) to find the best possible candidates. Therefore, regardless of the size of the company or the type of industry, several of the same critical steps of the hiring process are used before hiring a new employee.
